National Premier League / Brisbane Women’s Premier League

UQFC will compete in the inaugural PlayStation 4 National Premier League Senior Women’s competition in 2015, a competition adminstered by Football Queensland.
The PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Senior Women’s competition is the elite club competition for women’s football in Queensland, sitting one tier below the Westfield W‐League. Each club serves as the elite player pathway for player development in defined catchment areas.

UQFC is also one of only 10 Brisbane Club’s selected to play in the top tier Brisbane Women’s Premier League (BWPL) a competition administered by Football Brisbane (FB) as well as entering teams in the Women’s City League competitions.

What is Women’s’ City League?

Women’s City League Football is an open age/senior group competition administered by Football Brisbane (FB). UQFC will have one (1) team nominated in each of the six (6) Women’s City League divisions. It also plans to field a team in the inaugural FB Women’s Over 35s competition.

When do we play and train?

Teams play a home and away ground format & can be played on Friday evening, Saturdays or Sundays depending on FB scheduling. Training is held twice a week on midweek evenings (Mon and Wed) for NPL, BWPL / Division 1 squad and once a week for all other teams with an optional second session.

How are teams selected?

UQFC will announce trial dates for NPL, BWPL and Division 1 levels starting in October/November each year but with this process continuing right up until the start of the new academic year (end of February) with a highly experienced coaching staff selecting squads for the subsequent season. All other teams are selected from late January to late February.

How old must a player be to play senior women’s football?

Girls are allowed to play senior women’s football in the calendar year of their SIXTEENTH (16th) birthday.

What Kit do
I need?

All players must wear football boots (plastic tags) and shin guards. The Club will provide team playing shirts and shorts.

Who coaches NPL, WBPL and Women’s City League Football?

All teams have suitably qualified, dedicated coaches for each team with all coaching carried out in accordance with the FFA National Curriculum.
